Even Mormons Take a Break Now and Then

Those of you who used to be members of the one and only true church know what I'm talking about. You woke up minutes shy of Sacrament Meeting, heaved a sigh, willed yourself out of bed, and then rolled over and played dead instead.

Sorry, Gentle Readers, that's what I'm doing this week. But I have a really good excuse, on account of when I rolled over this morning I saw this out my window.
My view from the Albion River Inn
But just because I'm playing hooky doesn't mean you need to. Fortunately both the New York Times and the San Francisco Chronicle have my back. Thanks to that rascal Joseph Smith, the Mormons have hit the big time.

Have a great week!

  1. What?! A relaxing vacation with a beautiful view does not make you think of Mormonism??

  4. Thanks guys. Mendocino and the Anderson Valley in November are just about perfect. It's not crowded, the leaves are turning on the trees and grapevines and if it's cold and rainy we just snuggle by the fire.

I'm heading into the end of a blissful 4 days of embracing my free agency and not even thinking about the Lord's anointed.

  5. What a wonderful getaway.
Jolting Joe is certainly generating some interesting publicity from the grave, eh? (I can say" eh" because I'm half Canadian.)

  7. True Alexis, Joseph is anything but boring, even while dead. And JJ, it's Monday at my house too, and back to reality. (sigh)

  8. This has been a lovely and welcome, but quick, break from my Monday reality.
Let me get this straight. If I wanted to have sex with a bunch of different women and not jeopardize my marriage I would have to think up a new religion and make up an elaborate story just so I could get away with it? I actually think I have run across a few guys in my lifetime that might go to that much trouble, but they had some serious issues. Mr. Smith was surely one creative dude!

I hope you got to enjoy the view for a while.

    1. Jono -- I think Smith was a huckster who got in waaaaay over his head with his religion scam. I doubt he expected things to go as far as they did, but he certainly milked it for all the fame, power, and women he could get.

    2. I think you're right, Ahab. And he took every advantage for the short time he had.

  9. The new religion ruse might work for a while, Jono, but remember, in the end things didn't turn out so well for Joseph Smith!
